The Teachings of the Katipunan-(the Kartilla of the Katipunan)

I.A life not devoted to a worthy cause is like a tree without its leaves .
-we have our different purposes in life ,others are difficult others are simply easy . But the important thing is that we should do them no matter what the reason is . Because if we don't , our life could be put to nonsense .

II.A good deed that was not done sincerely is not considered a virtue
-It doesn't matter how many times you help others ,because if you did with an insincere heart it can't be called a virtue.

III.Real virtue lies not only in Charity and love of neighbor, but also in the purity of one's thoughts, words and actions.
-charity is what we do to help others, but if you do it for your own purpose , then it can't be called virtue regardless of what you give to others.

IV.All men are equal,regardless of race,color,and culture.
-don't judge the book by it's cover ,not everything we're seeing is real .We are all equally disregarding our physical capabilities .

V.A wise men values abstinence over indulgence
-only the truth will set you free
VI.A person with delicadeza knows how to keep his words
-delicadeza is a spanish trait that we inherited. It was a trait that has the definition of shame .So the point of this teaching is that if you have shame, keep your promises because if you won't keep them, you're shameless.
VII.Never waste time;opportunities that passed by may come again, but time wasted can never be brought back.
-time is gold ,others says which is true. But I don't really believe that opportunities that passed by may come again.Things may happen once like time so we should value every second that we spend our lives.
VIII.Defend the oppressed and fight the oppressor
-it was like defend your country and fight its conqueror
IX.An intelligent person exercises prudence in his words but when to keep a secret
-an intelligent person speaks diligently but he also knows when to keep his mouth shut. This means that even a person who's so intelligent ,is honest
X.A man serves as a model to his wife and children;thus, the leader who is headed in the wrong direction also leads his followers astray.
-this was like a bottle with a little water inside ,it follows where the gravity pulls the water , anywhere as long as their leader is concerned.

XI.Don't look down on a woman as a source of pleasure but as a partner in one's joys and sorrows;remember your mother who brought you up since you were a baby .
-women are meant to be loved not for pleasure .If you can't value one, then you don't deserve to love.Value other women as you value your mom.
XII.What you do not want done unto your own wife, daughter and sister,do not do unto others wife, daughter, and sister of others
-Don't do to others what you don't want to be done unto you. It's like a mirror, what you do to yourself while looking in the mirror will reflect and will be shown in the mirror too.
XIII.A person's worth does not depend on being a king priest or having a high position in society, nor in the shape of one's nose or color of one's skin.It is found in his goodness, honor, and pure intentions;in those who do not abuse nor allow themselves to be abused;and in those who know concern and love for one's country.
-Everyone was made by God equally ,so no matter what your position is,your personality is the only thing that is highly appreciated by others especially by God.You can earn money but you can't pay God to let you enter heaven, but your virtue and pure intentions will do more that it has bonus of taking you to heaven if already also accepted Jesus.

The Cry of Pugad Lawin

It was said that at the night that the Katipunan became no longer a secret association , Bonifacio and his army escaped to the Hills of Balintawak . This where it started.

All men associated together for a meeting at Juan Ramos' house (Melchora Aquino's son) .August 23,1896 , in the meeting , the Katipuneros finally reached their limit and decided to have an all-out attack for the country's freedom .
Their first step is to tore their Cedulas .

then , they shouted at the top of their lungs ,"MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS!MABUHAY ANG KALAYAAN!".

This 1 awakening opened the mind's eyes of the other Filipinos .Marked as , the beginning of the Philippine revolution 1896 against the Spain .

The trial and Death of Andres Bonifacio

Everything on Earth starts with birth .Yet , everything on Earth ends with death .
Lets move on . Andres Bonifacio , on April 29,1897, was taken to the War Council just because the War council wants to try them on the War council . Also , they were found guilty of sedition and was sentenced to Death by the council .

Emilio Aguinaldo tried to convert their death sentence to life imprisonment but his military advisers did not agree. I don't know what he is trying to do here , I don't know if he wants to help or something but no matter how he helps , I doubt it .

They were taken to My.Buntis on MAY 10,1897 .They were shot by 4 soldiers and was buried on a shallow grave ...wooowww...This was a disrespectful kind of burial !And here's more ,they plantes wooden branches on the ground just to mark the spot!!!

I don't really understand , they could have sinned but their people to , they need respect even for just their death . Even a proper burial would do .
MT.BUNTIS at NAIC,CAVITE

This is the place where the Bonifacio brothers were buried.

The Collaboration with the Americans

At this scene , Emilio Aguinaldo is one of the main characters . His role here is to disagree with Isabelo Artacho who wants the 400,000 paid by the Spaniards to be equally divided among them .

Highly confusing , I wonder why Emilio Aguinaldo refused Isabelo Artacho's request even if it is for good (I already know why , I just don't want to admit it) . Probably because he has another opinion or I'm correct with what I'm thinking as of earlier no , it was the correct answer. Feeling unjustified , Isabelo Artacho filed a lawsuit against Emilio Aguinaldo in the supreme court in Hongkong . The Hongkong Supreme court during the old days .

So , where did we really get the point of collaborating with the Americans ?
-Its because we lack UNITY . But they have a lot . So we asked for some,no just kidding . We got the point of collaborating with the Americans because Spencer Pratt told Emilio Aguinaldo to help the Americans fight against Spain . "If the Americans will win this battle , what more the Filipinos 10,000 miles away ." , Spencer added .

So , Emilio Aguinaldo believed on what Spencer said which he completely thought it was right , he headed back to the Philippines to create an army against Spain . But , will the Americans really bring the Philippine Independence that Emilio Aguinaldo is expecting/thinking and what Spencer is saying ?

Anyways , Lets go on with the Story of Isabelo Artacho
====(*^_^*)(*^_^*)====

So after Isabelo Artacho filed a Lawsuit against Emilio Aguinaldo , we're not so sure if it was a failure . But after that , Emilio Aguinaldo and Rounseville Wildman became friends not after ,they became so close that Emilio Aguinaldo entrusted Wildman 50,000 pesos and 67,000 pesos to buy some weapons for his army . How selfish could he be! He trusted a foreigner for money but he did not trust his comrades ?! So the result is , the First amount was used but the other one vanished and was never used by the Filipinos . (Doesn't surprise me. T_T)

But the Filipino Members in Hongkong , had a discussion about the things happening here in the Philipppines . Lead by Felipe Agoncillo . So they created this JUNTA on MAY 4,1898 .

MY COMMENT ABOUT THIS:
Trust no one , just yourself . (Don't trust the Americans or anyone else , just the Filipinos) because only yourselves can help yourselves.

The results of the Propaganda Movement

For some reason , the Propaganda Movement never asked for Philippine Independence . Know why ? Probably because they thought that someday , when the Spaniards realize the pitiful state of the Filipinos , they will implement changes that the Filipinos wanted . After watching Jose Rizal starred by Cesar Montano , I never thought it was possible . So I don't know what came into the Propaganda Movement members minds that they even thought it was possible .

The result of the Propaganda Movement , somehow , is a FAILURE . Definitely because they lack Nationalism and Leadership . Why didn't they fought for our country instead of letting the Spaniards abuse us ? Are they saying that the Spaniards will someday have pity on us and let us go ? When will that someday happen ? No wonder it was a failure . Even I wouldn't join that kind of organization .

I could even say that they lack leadership not because of their leader but because they don't follow their leaders . What's the sense of a leader of his followers doesn't follow him ? It would be like a tree without its leaves .That also means it was just a plain position .
THE LEADERS of THE PROPAGANDA MOVEMENT

These leaders , I don't really know what they're up to .

If only these people realized how sad it will be to be under the Spain , I think they would have open minds then fight for their country , not for themselves but for their country . "Animals are people too" but in this situation the animals looks like smarter than us to fight for their territory . The Philippines are meant for the Filipinos , Spain for Spaniards ,America for Americans and what not . Why can't they just be contented for what they have ? World War I and II could have never happened if they're not greedy for more power . I don't really like the purpose of this propaganda movement . All I believe is that this was a FAILURE .

The Contributions of the Spanish Missionaries to us Filipinos

The contribution of the Spanish missionaries to us Filipinos can be still seen as of today. There were so many changes or improvements done by the spanish missionaries. With their help, now we could know more about our heroes since their masterpieces were left behind. Now is the time that we'll study further more about the spanish missionaries' contribution to the Philippine government.

1.)FOUNDERS of TOWNS
-Look around,if you're living in a subdivision, you may get used seeing your living place more like forming a shape of rectangle.Wanna know why?Well,it's because of the Spanish missionaries.Yes,they are the ones who managed that subdivisions or towns should be with a rectangular shape.
The Spanish missionaries even used to make landmarks like Churches,Park, etc. because they think that it will somehow help you go to a place you are not familiar with then you won't be lost on your way back home!*^_^*It is pretty useful though!
2.)ENGINEERS of INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS
-Spanish missionaries are also the ones who designed the bridges, roads, etc. They're like the director of a film and we are the actors and actresses. And at the same time,we are the audiences.
3.)AGRICULTURISTS
-Except from designing the towns and roads, the spanish missionaries also intruduced to us other products that we could plant like; cincamas, potatoes, coffee, papaya, etc.not just fruits but they also brought animals that we're not familiar with too like;goats, carabaos, swan, ducks, pigeons, horses and cattles. There are a lot of agricultural products that the spanish missionaries introduced to us so I named just a few.
4.)INDUSTRIALISTS
-The Spanish missionaries, not being tired of sharing us what they have in their country, even thought us how to do fishing, mining, farming and weaving in a better way.Because of these,we Filipinos learned further more about what life is,since we slowly learned to use things that we learned to make, even we are not really used in using it.We learned to use soaps, candles and most especially,BOOKS.
5.)ARCHITECTS
-Some of the houses here in the Philippines are styled like a Spanish style. You guessed it right,it's because of the Spanish missionaries. They're not just the engineers, industrialists and agriculturists but also the architects and we all know that architects are those who styles or designs houses and even buildings. And because of that,we inherited the way or style of Spanish houses! But still, there are other places which were not affected or places which didn't inherit this from the Spaniards, these are the provinces who still uses NIPA HUTS or BAHAY KUBO.Other Filipinos uses Nipa huts just for display but others uses this as their shelter during cold times, and their umbrella during the rainy days.I think about this architecture, the spaniards influenced us a lot if this matter would be concerned.
6.)SOCIAL WORKERS
-for me,this would be the nicest thing the Spanish missionaries had done for us.The Spanish missionaries created or founded an orphanage center or a place where abandoned children could live in.No one in the world would do that if they were a lover of money, weren't they? But behold, they didn't build just an orphanage center but also hospitals!I really appreciate these spanish workers!!!If they don't love us then they wouldn't build such things!
The Hospital of SAN JUAN de DIOS
And the SAN LAZARO hospital are 2 of the oldest existing hospitals in Asia. But there were other hospitals built in different places!I don't have any clue why the Spanish missionaries were so kind to us unlike their other comrades.
This is a picture of one of the orphanage or asylum built. Its name was Real Hospicio de San Jose known for being the very first orphanage for girls and boys.It was built in Manila in 1810.
7.)EDUCATORS
-The Spanish missionaries did'n't just built asylums but they also became our 2nd teachers for they also built schools and universities. At first, only the boys were allowed to go to school. And the girls were just meant to stay at home. How unfair it was!I would rather wish to stay in school than being imprisoned at home doing nothing!I'd die with boredom that way!Going back to the topic, the Spanish missionaries served as our teachers and they thought us how to speak Latin and Spanish since these were the main dialect used in schools.
This was COLEGIO MAXIMO de SAN IGNACIO,the first school established yup,FOR BOYS ONLY >:(.Except of these, there were other schools built like,Colegio de San Ildefonso,Escuela Pia,etc.

Now,this is the best part, they finally established a school for Girls!YES!
COLEGIO de SANTA POTENCIANA was the first school established for girls.I bet that it was very crowded during the 1st day of school since this was the first school built for girls by the Spaniards ever! This Colegio de Santa Potenciana was built on 1591.But later on,it was followed by...
The COLEGIO de SANTA ISABEL,built on 1632 then a lot of other schools followed. This is great for me!!!But the oldest school existing is the University of Santo Thomas yes,the university where some of our heroes enrolled in.
8.)SCIENTISTS
-Right now,I can't imagine how intelligent Spanish missionaries are of course, you are an engineer, architect and a scientist?!My goodness, what would they look like???!!!The Spanish missionaries maybe loved science and math as I imagine them.I would live in a bed of roses if I did that!!!By the way, going back, the Spaniards brought their knowledge about science from Europe on the 19th century(it is stated on my book :P)which led to being brought here in the Philippines it was meant actually.Dr.Jose Rizal must had loved Science when it was introduced to him!
This was the OBSERVATORY of MANILA which was founded by the Jesuits in 1865.
9.)The OBRAS PIAS
-obras pias was the first financial group here in the P
hilippines.I cant believe that the Spanish missionaries was rich enough to be founder of the Obras Pias! But instead of keeping the money that they're receiving from this, they would give it to the persons of the society!!!Oh,how I wish there are still Spanish missionaries who's this kind,I wish I could taste their kindness!!!
10.)WRITERS
-Since the Spanish missionaries thought us how to speak Spanish and Latin, they also thought us how to make poems, novels, etc. But of course we're not just the one who could study different languages, the Spanish missionaries also studied our Local language! They can't speak TAGALOG but I still appreciate that they can understand it.If they didn't teach us how to make poems and novels, then there would be no known Lope K. Santos or others because they wouldn't be rewarded for their creativeness when it comes to story-making.
11.)PRINTERS
-Of course, there wouldn't be a lot of copies of books if we didn't learn how to print.
This was the first printing press in the Philippines, and this was the printer used by Dr. Jose Rizal especially, when he finished a novel. But TOMAS PINPIN was the first filipino printer.
This was a sculpture of Tomas Pinpin,or "The Prince of Filipino printers" was also the very first Filipino author who also printed the first Tagalog book.Printers, they are still used as of today especially during doing our assignments at home. But still the spanish missionaries also used this in a nice way.
However, the DOCTRINA CHRISTIANA was the first book printed in the Philippines.
12.)LIBRARIANS & CURATORS
-Studying would never be completed without books, unless you learn from your surroundings or those around you.The Spanish Missionaries established libraries and, museums for us to learn more,I guess they really care for us like their own child because if they don't then there would be nothing like this existing during the Spanish Era.
13.)MUSICIANS
-Gosh!Are the Spanish Missionaries a human?!How could they be talented, creative and at the same time intelligent?!If there would be any guys still existing with this characteristics gosh!I would be his great, great FAN!!!The Spanish missionaries was creative enough to compose songs and even invent a piece of music! Those who can't would just teach music but those who could, they make songs for church rites!!!How creative they are!
14.)ARTISTS
-Lastly,the Spanish missionaries also shared their sculptures and paintings to us! They thought us how to make such things!Well, thanks to them,we could know draw memories without using cameras but just with a graphite, eraser and a paper! So I'm thankful that we learned a lot of things from the Spaniards.

I guess this article proved that not all the things that we got from the Spaniards are bad,but there are other things that we got from that are useful too.
Spanish missionaries,We Filipinos are thanking you for everything!

Galleon Trade, Royal Subsidy, Obras Pias, Tributes and Tobacco Monopoly.

The galleon trade A.K.A. Manila-Acapulco trede was used to ship products from the Philippines to Mexico. It is said that this galleon trade lasted for 200 years.

A galleon trade is a process which usually includes the governor
general, members of the royal audiencia, the clergy, local officials, widows of spanish officials, etc. they were the one who could participate to this activity.
Vut everyone can join ! But they have to purchase a balota for 250 pesos. Only it's sponsors and participants are the only benefitors of this activity. It has nothin
g to develop for our country.

____________________________________________________

The Royal subsidy is about the governor general's evil plan to fill his pocket. The governor general is so greedy that he will send a letter to the king of Spain for more money. He says that they're running out of money because of the Philippines' expenses.

____________________________________________________

The Obras Pias were the 1st financial group in Manila. It is consist of
the banks. In the Obras Pias, you could loan some money. This so called OBRAS PIAS, was also responsible for any financial cases in the Philippines.

The tributes is the taxes. You can pay it by cash or material things. On 1570, each family is required to pay 8 reales which is equivalent to one peso. For single person, he/she is required to pay 1/2 peso. The tax collection will be distributed, it is used f
or construction and a portion of it is given in the church. On 1884, the tribute was replaced by the cedula, which includes Filipinos aged 18 years old and above were required to work in order to pay their taxes, in return thay will be given a residence certificate.

The Tobacco Monopoly was established by Governor-General Jose Basco on
March 1, 1782. The Tobacco Monopoly made the Philippines known for their quality tobacco. Each family is required to sell Tobacco and must not left any leaves tobacco for them. It incresed the industry of Tobacco, but decreased the industry of rice, because the farmers were not allowed to harvest any crops except tobacco. Allast it was abolished by Governor GeneraL Primo de Rivera in 1882.
